Balayage

Balayage: It’s the effect worn by celebrities Jessica Alba, Rachel Bilson, Drew Barrymore, and Gisele. Balayage is a natural sweeping of colour in your hair to bring natural looking highlights and a variation that is easy to maintain and care for at home.

Balayage

The balayage look is created when your colourist ‘paints’ or dips your hair with colour, without foils – usually at the tips of your hair.

This creates a stunning but subtle graded effect, almost as though your hair has been bleached by the sun at the tips.

Balayage is a great look for those with straight, wavy, and flowing hair, and can be worn in multiple ways. For best results your balayage will be 2-3 shades lighter than your natural colour, to provide a natural look as it grades from lighter to darker. Talk to your colourist to determine the best look for you.

Benefits of balayage:

  • Balayage is painted on so you won’t get a strong ‘line’ where the colour stops and your natural colour begins. It will gently grade into your natural colour.
  • Balayage is easily maintained, balayage can be made to look as strong or as subtle as you like.
  • Balayage won’t dry out your hair, continue to use conditioners and shampoos that are specific to your hair type.

Balayage has been around since the 1970s and will continue to be a part of beautiful hair around the world. While it continues to change and be worn differently, it has a flexibility that means you can add new dimensions to your hair as the seasons and times change.
